En sus or\u00edgenes era un barrio de la Parroquia Ignacio Flores que se llamaba Guanail\u00edn (Guaina que proviene de la palabra kichwa cuyo significado es enamorado), luego del 6 de agosto de 1.936 se constituy\u00f3 como parroquia y tom\u00f3 el nombre de Belisario Quevedo en honor al periodista, educador y legislador latacungue\u00f1o Belisario Quevedo Izurieta. Se ubica en el suroeste del Cant\u00f3n Latacunga, aunque actualmente existen varios accesos, el principal es tomando la v\u00eda panamericana Latacunga &#8211; Salcedo hasta el kil\u00f3metro 5 a unos 15 minutos de la ciudad ingresando por el Comunidad Illuchi.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Flora<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Las principales especies nativas de la zona son: pajonales, festuca, chuquiragua, quishuar, aliso, pimaqui, molli, chilca, malva, romerillo, choclo, morti\u00f1o, achupalla.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-103\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/belisarioquevedo.gob.ec\/cotopaxi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/image022.jpg\" alt=\"image022\" width=\"200\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/belisarioquevedo.gob.ec\/cotopaxi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/image022.jpg 370w, https:\/\/belisarioquevedo.gob.ec\/cotopaxi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/image022-292x300.jpg 292w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Quishuar<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fauna<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En cuanto a la fauna encontramos las especies siguientes: lobo de paramo, conejo silvestre de paramo, raposa, chucuri, Entre las aves tenemos quilico, gligle, curiquingue, pato punteado, gaviota andina, mirlo, gavil\u00e1n, p\u00e1jaros y colibr\u00ed, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-104\" src=\"http:\/\/belisarioquevedo.gob.ec\/cotopaxi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/image023.jpg\" alt=\"image023\" width=\"150\" height=\"145\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-105\" src=\"http:\/\/belisarioquevedo.gob.ec\/cotopaxi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/image024.jpg\" alt=\"image024\" width=\"150\" height=\"145\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-106\" src=\"http:\/\/belisarioquevedo.gob.ec\/cotopaxi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/image025.jpg\" alt=\"image025\" width=\"150\" height=\"145\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Altura<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La parroquia Belisario Quevedo se halla a 2820 m- sobre el nivel del mar. Tiene en la actualidad aproximadamente 8000 habitantes distribuidos en los 25 barrios que forman la parroquia y en los 52 km de superficie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Orograf\u00eda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Belisario Quevedo en su aspecto orogr\u00e1fico tiene un hermoso Mirador natural llamado Putzalagua a 3515 m.s.m. joya natural que debemos aprovechar para forestarlo y transformarlo en un lugar tur\u00edstico. Actualmente disponemos de 3 senderos para llegar a la cima de cerro Potrerillos.
